NOW UK is part of a Group-wide initiative, open to all employees, to drive action and create an open platform for discussion and the further awareness of the importance of gender equality.
It provides a networking platform to facilitate collaboration, discuss challenges and support female colleagues in fulfilling their career goals.
Along with an active membership of over 100 employees, the group holds ‘lunch and learn’ meetings, which facilitate discussion on important gender focussed topics – with women mentors from within Heidelberg Materials also sharing their knowledge and experiences.

Around 50 employees from across our business attended our latest Network of Women (NOW) event on emotional empowerment for professional success.
Emotional skills coach Sally Stockreisser, gave a talk on how women can transform their everyday experience and performance by harnessing their power for emotional growth.
The event at our Customer Service Centre last year in Syston also included talks on the life of a quarry, quarry careers, a wellness check-in and discussion on future NOW activities.
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrated annually on March 8 to commemorate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
