Information for parents and teachers

Supporting your child or student’s next step can feel overwhelming, we get it.

Choosing the right pathway after school is a big decision, and it’s natural to have questions.

At Heidelberg Materials UK, we’re committed to making that transition as smooth and informed as possible. That’s why we host live Q&A sessions throughout our early careers recruitment campaign — giving you the chance to hear directly from our team, ask questions, and explore how our Higher Apprenticeship Programme sets young people up for long-term success.

We’re here to support you, every step of the way.

 What is a Higher Apprenticeship?

A Higher Apprenticeship combines practical on-the-job training with academic study, leading to a nationally recognised qualification typically at Level 4 or above.

Is this a good alternative to university?

Yes. Apprentices earn while they learn, gain valuable work experience, and avoid student debt. Many go on to secure leadership roles within the business.

Will my child or student be supported during the programme?

Absolutely. Apprentices receive mentorship, structured development plans, and access to wellbeing resources. We’re committed to their personal and professional growth.
